There are a lot of obstacles that make it difficult for Tigers to survive nowadays. Among these obstacles is the deforestation process that results in the loss of the hunting territory where Tigers obtain their food and a decline in the prey that they hunt. That's why the population of these beautiful cats lessens.

It is very interesting that each tiger has its own pattern of stripes. They even can identify one another by these different patterns. The other interesting fact concerning the coloring of the tiger is that there are white spots on the blacks of their ears. Scientists think that this may be a visual cue for tigers to look for one another and for mothers to keep their cubs in sight.

Length: The largest of all the Tigers is the Siberian Tiger. Males are about 10 feet (that is 3 meters) long; the smallest tiger is the Sumatran tiger; these males are 8 feet (2.4 meters) long.
Weight: Siberian tiger males weigh about 400 pounds and even more (181 kilograms); Sumatran tiger males are smaller and weigh only 220 pounds (100 kilograms).
Life span: 15 to 20 years in the wild, up to 26 years in zoos.
Gestation: about 103 days.
Number of young at birth: There are up to 7, but average is 2 to 3.
Size at birth: About 2.2 pounds (1 kilogram).
Age of maturity: 3 years old.

So, Tigers are the largest members of the cat family. Tigers are strong swimmers and they like to play in the water especially in the summer when it is hot outside. Tigers are also good runners and jumpers. They are very silent when hunting and dangerous when protecting their territories. One of the Tigers' greatest abilities is adaptability.
